Whitney WildcatsWhitney Cross Country Team Camp was held at Calaveras Big Trees State Park in 2022. The team spent some time at the Stanislaus River, White Pines Lake, held an epic spike ball tournament, and of course did a trail runner at altitude each day.
One of Whitney Distance’s early season workouts is The Jettison. It is a full team run on the track with a pace script that gets progressively faster each lap. The challenge is to stay with the pack as the pace gets rigorous, and then to hang on until only the top runners are pushing hard to reach just one more hundred meter segment.

Summer Training
Annual week-long team camping trip to kick off summer conditioning.
Over 50 Whitney runners enjoy hiking, exploring, lake time, and of course running, up in the cool alpine air.
There’s a half mile loop in our neighborhood that features a challenging 200m climb, then a gentle slope that loops down around to the base again. Ideal for repeats.
It’s a workout we affectionately call “Capital D’s”, and is one all of our runners love to do !!!
