Rocklin High School
With a couple relay meets to start the season, we finally had a “normal” track meet at Rocklin HS.
1600
– Frosh soph girls started off, and Grace Pierce led the Lady Wildcats with a 2nd place finish in a very impressive early season time of 6:03. Teammates Hannah Lee and Jessica Becker were also 6:03, just a couple tenths behind. Breaking the 6-minute barrier is a big deal for girls in the mile, and we’ve got 3 frosh soph ladies poised to accomplish that soon. Katelynne Finta and Caitlyn Blythe, who are just getting started in distance running, ran an impressive 6:36 and 6:37 early season mile, respectively.
For the guys, Brendan Jacoby and Jacob Harbert were 3rd and 4th, both breaking 5 minutes. Tyler Hawkins was our first freshman across the line, clocking 5:10. He will be breaking 5 very soon. For varsity girls, freshman Kirsten Ransford and senior Avery Lambrite were 3rd and 4th overall, both breaking 5:40. Sophomore Brooke Giorgi PR’d right behind in 5:47. For the guys, Austin Shields duked it out with the top Rocklin runner, ultimately placing 2nd in an awesome early season time of 4:32. That will no doubt put him in the top 3 in league rankings.
800
– For the frosh soph ladies, Haley Bedrin led the way, finishing in 2nd place overall. Her footspeed at the end of the 800 indicates that this distance could be her specialty. Let’s just say that Coach is already having her focus on 800m workouts at practice 🙂 Jacob and Brendan once again paced the Wildcats, finishing 2nd and 3rd overall. Adam Beard PR’d (personal record) in 2:19, and placed 5th. In the varsity girls race, Avery Lambrite dominated everybody, winning in 2:31, with Kirsten Ransford right behind in a PR 2:34.
